The Birketts are all the 541 Lake District hills over 1,000ft as listed in Bill Birkett's book Complete Lakeland Fells. For people who have completed the Wainwright's, they are the natural succession. Mick Fox completed the list on Sunday March 13th when he and Clare ascended Kepple Crag above Eskdale. Congratulations Mick - now how about those Munroes?

Scottish Hotel Meet in Oban 34 members and friends enjoyed 5 nights in Oban. Although the weather was never good enough for the Ben Cruachan Horseshoe, several Munroes were ascended, and two Corbetts ticked off. The location of Oban gives good access to several islands, and the Calmac and private ferry services were kept busy. Below is the group on the final evening. Monday: Various groups set out in poor weather. One group visited the group of islands south of Oban accessed by the famous Clachan Bridge, including Seil, Easdale, and Luing. Here are Tina and Val with others.

Tuesday. 21 members took the small ferry across to Kerrera. As it only takes 11 people it took two crossings to get us all across.

Wednesday. 8 members went on the Calmac ferry from Oban to Lismore. Four of them climbed a wall and ascended the highest point on the island Barr Mòr at 127 metres (417 ft)
	Thursday: With poor weather forecast, 23 members opted for the 'Hollow Mountain' tour to see the pump-storage system under Ben Cruachan. Jan was undaunted by the forecast and found reasonable weather climbing the Munro top of Meall Cuanail. Here is the view on the descent looking down to Loch Awe.
